And acid-washed anything. And a glove on one hand. Scrunchie socks. The denim tuxedo.
It's one thing to follow a trend when you're young. It's quite another to embrace a look 20 years after you wore it the first time. I know everything old is new again, but can I truly pull off a second whirl of Hammer pants and acid-wash jeans and day-glo anything? Or was once enough? How many times around before a look becomes a classic? Or is every fad going to make another run at glory, leaving me to figure out how to retool it for the second, third, or fourth time?

My fear, though, is that I will subconsciously succumb to seductive advertising. It's happened to me before - I had sworn off impossibly pointy toes and teetering heels in the early 90's, trading them in for no nonsense utilitarian combat looking things (which went nicely with my women's studies classes). Then, there she was in the Elle magazine I impulse-bought at the grocery store, with a black dress, big smile, mile long legs and FANTASTIC pointy shoes. My clunkers suddenly felt like a chrysalis just waiting to reveal some pointy, teetering butterfly inside.....
But with those jeans, I do believe once was enough.
That is definitely a man wearing those gloves
